Job Description

Technical Underwriter, Bristol. £Negotiable plus excellent package.

You will be responsible for the underwriting of complex individual risks. Operating within agreed underwriting guidelines designed to use your expertise to the full in delivering underwriting decisions to brokers. Agreeing terms across a variety of Commercial products and classes of business, within specified authority limits appropriate to your skills and experience. Provision of high quality technical and commercial underwriting in the rating and acceptance of insurance risks within agreed guidelines authority limits. Performing a key role in the sales process of the Region and in developing a sales culture. In addition there will be the opportunity to assist with technical training and the production and distribution of statistical information and other research. Working individually and collectively with other team members across Underwriting, Customer Service and Sales teams to provide technical support to add value in Property, Motor or Liability Insurance. Provide active support and guidance to the technical and commercial development of more junior underwriters. Delivery of outstanding underwriting and customer service to Brokers in your Area. Building and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Develop new business and maximise the value of current business on an ongoing basis. Ensure compliance with the principles of Treating Customers Fairly and any other legal, regulatory, audit and risk management framework within your team by demonstrating knowledge of governance principles and company value.

Individuals must be able to demonstrate a proven track record in developing broker relationships and new business support. The successful candidate will have a positive profile within the broker community and will play a key role in the overall Relationship Management of key broker. Strong technical understanding of Underwriting more complex risks/cases. Credible presence, strong character, strong communicator with excellent ability of developing customer relationships.
