IES Modeller Job, Building Services, Bristol (M&E)


Key Competencies


Display computer literacy skills with specific experience & detailed knowledge of software packages. IES, Autocad and Microsoft Office suite
Ability to undertake building energy comparison studies using IES, modelling various plant and fabric options to achieve optomised solutions.
Ability to undertake Building Regulations Part L CO2 analysis using one or a range of techniques.
Contribute to concept designs to ensure the best overall solution is envisaged from an early stage.
Display energy, enthusiasm and determination to achieve objectives and deliver solutions.
Display effective verbal and written communication to match the communication needs of business partners and clients.
Display effective organisation skills with an ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and expectations of clients and colleagues.
Demonstrate effective analysis techniques, problem resolution and solution delivery.
Ability to resolve differences, create open communication procedures, lead and develop others.
Demonstrate effective team working, contributing to the team and wider company objectives.

Role
The Engineers role is key to the structure and performance of the engineering team. All of the above competencies will be employed in the provision and successful delivery of a range of engineering services, to external and internal customers, in all business sectors including commercial, industrial, retail, healthcare, education, defence, leisure etc. within both public and private domains.

The structure exists for an enthusiastic candidate to excel in the area of Low Carbon design and the role will be limited only be the candidates own ability.

The candidate will be expected to have the ability to work with a minimum of supervision and respond to the demands of time limited programmes. The potential exists to take on a supervisory role in a small team undertaking thermal modelling for the right candidate.

Minimum Qualifications


Degree in Building Services Engineering or science related degree [or equivalent experience]
Membership of appropriate body e.g. IET, CIBSE, etc
Demonstrable CPD record
Essential Experience

Minimum 6 months experience of using IES to undertake energy studies and Part L calculations
Experience in the building services profession
Demonstrable experience of working on a variety of type and size of project across all business sectors and the provision of various duties.
Experience of energy conservation, sustainability and renewable technologies
Interpretation of customer requirements and preparation of concept designs to meet the needs of both internal and external clients
Comprehensive knowledge and application of regulations, legislation, codes of practice and current design standards applicable to mechanical building services installations
Demonstrable track record in the successful delivery of major projects with a high technical content.
Preferable experience gained when employed by major consultancies of a multi-disciplinary nature.
Preferable considerable term of experience gained in the local marketplace.
Experience of working with key architects and other design team professionals.
Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and requirements on designers
Preferably usage of IES to undertake complex studies involving CFD.
