| Our client, one of the UK's leading healthcare companies, is looking to recruit an articulate and technically astute Actuarial Assistant to join their busy actuarial team. Based in their central office youll be responsible for ensuring the financial health of Health Assurance for both the client and the Financial Services Authority (FSA). This will be done by setting appropriate reserves, complying with statutory obligations and carrying out the appropriate financial and risk analysis to support these functions. Key Responsibilities *Calculating reserves to hold to meet the liabilities, using methods and assumptions determined by the Deputy Actuary and approved by the Appointed Actuary *Analysing in force business with a view to reviewing subscription rates for future new business *Assisting the IT manager and staff in the development, testing and implementation of quality computer systems to process the above functions *Addressing the more complex queries from customers and to ensure that these are dealt with satisfactorily with a minimum of further referral. *Preparing projections to support the financial planning, asset and capital management of the business. Specific Skills *Educated to at least 2nd class honours degree standard in a numerate subject or equivalent work experience *Grade B or better in A level mathematics or equivalent statistics and mathematics based work experience *Knowledge of Mathematics and Statistics *Ideally youll have previous experience within an Actuarial role - (internship or work placement would suffice) Hours: Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:00 Salary: £23,000 - £30,000 Excellent benefits including study and exam support.
