Community Development Worker – Preventing Violent Extremism Programme

£24,545 - £27,594 Ref: 20896

Full time, fixed term until March 2011

Based at St Pauls



The community cohesion team are looking to recruit a community development worker to work on the development and implementation of Bristol City Council's Prevent Strategy. The strategy forms part of the Government's response to increasing the resilience of communities to violent extremism and will focus on grass roots community development work with Bristol's diverse Muslim communities. This will include building dialogue with Muslim communities and capacity building Muslim groups to engage in decision-making. You will have extensive community development experience, have knowledge and understanding of current community cohesion practice/policy and a wide knowledge of issues affecting Muslim communities. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
