Primary Capital Projects Manager

Full time, permanent

Based at the Council House



An exciting full time opportunity has arisen within Bristol City Council for a Project Manager who has a proven track record working within the construction industry environment managing major capital projects. You will work within Children and Young People's Services' Capital, Assets and School Organisation Team and have management responsibility for a small team of officers within the facilities section.

A substantial part of your role will be to project manage a range of major capital projects within the primary school capital programme with a value potentially in excess of £60m over the next four to five years. You will ensure that the key objectives of individual projects are met within agreed timescales and to budget.

For each project managed you will be required to develop, maintain, research, consult, and communicate with stakeholders: including other local authorities and external organisations, managers, staff, service providers and users. You will have relevant experience of working as a project manager in the construction industry environment or relevant field.



A working knowledge and demonstrable competence of project management and the development of the project business case are essential.

Some knowledge and understanding of Best Value, and Value for Money is desirable. You will be competent and experienced in managing capital budgets.
