Overview
A world leader in the development, manufacture and distribution of a wide range of medical devices. The company is highly regarded in financial circles as a classic example of the true British success story.
Reporting to the Production Engineering Manager, a vacancy now exists for 2 (two) Production Engineers. The Production Engineer will be primarily responsible for New Product Introduction and Lean Manufacturing.
Responsibilities
New Product Introduction - process development and a robust and complete transfer of the product to manufacturing - this will require close liaison with Manufacturing and Product Development departments (the list below also applies to maintenance and support of products already transferred to manufacturing)
oManufacturing documentation, including Process Sheets & Inspection Sheets.
oProducing Procedures & Work Instructions.
oAssist in the training of manufacturing personnel.
oSpecifying and develop all fixtures, gauging and software.
oSpecify machine set-up programmes.
oCNC programming via CAM and code.
oPerform process validation & computer systems validation including process characterisation, optimisation & capability studies as required.

Lean Manufacturing - analyse production processes and propose/implement improvements to reduce lead time, reduce cost, improve efficiency.

Liaising with suppliers on technical issues.
Assist with CAPA investigations to improve efficiency of manufacturing processes by analysing non conforming product issues, proposing and supporting countermeasures.
Supervise or perform production prototyping and initial production runs.
Investigate and develop new manufacturing processes and equipment.
Resolving technical issues within the Manufacturing Department.
To ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the Company and legislative requirements for Health & Safety.
Undertake any other projects as directed by the Production Engineering Manager.

Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess an engineering qualification (ideally HND or equivalent).
Industrial experience preferably within a medical devices environment
Good practical experience of lean manufacturing
Good understanding of Quality Procedures and Process Validation
Experienced user of project and time management techniques
