Affinity Trust

Company Profile

Affinity Trust provides person centred services to help people with learning disabilities live life in their local community the way they want to.

Since out inception in 1991 we have grown to become a national provider of support services to more than 550 people and still growing. Underpinning this success is our belief that all people with learning disabilities have a right to lead an active and fulfilling life.

We have always adopted a non-rejecting stance supporting people through difficult times and periods in their lives; to date we have empowered hundreds of individuals to meet aspirations and attain personal goals they told us they were hopeful of achieving when we first met them.

We offer a wide range of support services across the country and work closely with our local authorities and other partners to make sure we keep pushing the boundaries of what we make possible for the people we support in their communities.

Affinity Trust North Division has been established on the local area for over ten years. Our office was opened in 1996 in response to Meanwood Park Hospital closing and the people they supported needing new homes

We offer a diverse and individual service to the people we support as our services have been commissioned by care managers, direct payments and other providers in Leeds, Wakefield and Kirklees in Yorkshire and more recently in Bury and Wigan in Lancashire to include:

Registered Residential Homes that provide 24 hour support to people with a variety of needs

Supported Living Services where we can provide tailor made support packages to ensure individuals can live the independent life they want to

Opportunities Services that give the local residents access to a broad range of activities 7 days a week and community facilities year round

Outreach Services to support those living in their own homes to develop the skills needed to live a more independent lifestyle

Whether helping someone to live in their own home, experience new things or gain work that is rewarding and enjoyable, Affinity Trust aims to ensure that those we support have the opportunity to live life to its fullest.

People with disabilities have their own hope, dreams, aspirations and wishes to be accepted into their own communities and to be seen as equal citizens. We aim to ensure that those we support have every opportunity to live their life to the full.

Support Workers are required to support people with all aspects of their daily living. Supporting in this way is very rewarding and we have opportunities for providing people with support in many different ways. For example, support may include dealing with household finances, domestic duties or helping someone tend their garden. As we also support people with more complex needs we are also looking for people to assist us in this area of our work.

Successful applicants will have a good understanding of the English language and good verbal communication skills. We welcome applicants from all parts of the community – in particular, those who are multi-lingual and those that have general life skills and an understanding of the diversity of the communities in which our services are provided.

Applicants will be enthusiastic, able to use their own initiative and excellent interpersonal skills. A good standard of literacy and numeracy is required. Experience is not essential as a full and extensive programme of training will be initiated on appointment. NVQ training is made available to all part-time and full-time staff.

Travel between locations is often necessary, therefore applicants with a driving license and their own transport are welcomed.

All applicants will be expected to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure check by the Criminal Records Bureau.

We also have vacancies in our Leeds based Residential / Opportunities services, and can offer volunteering opportunities. For more information, please call us.
